Colombian president Ivan Duque Marquez has been granted honorary citizenship to the city of Seoul.
Mayor Oh Se-hoon granted it on Thursday and presented him a BTS poster that says “See you in Seoul.”
The mayor said Colombia is an “important ally” as it’s the only South American country to send troops to help during the Korean War.
Honorary Seoul citizenship is given to foreign nationals who lived a considerable amount of years in the capital or are seen as valued overseas guests.
Duque is the first Colombian leader to visit South Korea in over a decade, and the 35th head of a state to receive honorary citizenship from Seoul city.
