Opening Ceremony of Nodeulseom Ice Skating Rink

The cold of winter has its own charm. The places where people can feel the essence of winter are the sledding grounds and ice skating rinks. Despite the freezing coldness, the laughter of children never ceases. But children are not the only beneficiaries. Adults can also enjoy the cold season as if they went back to their childhood. There are so many places to visit—Ttukseom Sledding Hill, where you can not only sled but also have a variety of other experiences like catching pond smelts and making dalgona (honeycomb toffee); Seoul Plaza Ice Skating Rink, a must-visit spot in winter; and Nodeulseom Ice Skating Rink, which will open for the first time this year! Enjoy this winter to the fullest in the snow- and ice-filled Seoul.

    Children Riding Sleds

    ■ Anyangcheon Tubing Hill

Spreading over an area of 7,600 ㎡, the Anyangcheon Tubing Hill is located in the inline skating rink under the Ogeumgyo Bridge on the right bank of Anyangcheon Stream.

The Anyangcheon Tubing Hill has a regular slope (for those over six years of age) and a gentle children’s slope (for those between 36 months and six years of age). The regular slope is equipped with a tube lift that automatically brings the tube-type sleds to the top of the hill. The tube-type sleds are used for the safety of riders as they absorb any shock caused by crashes.

Other than slopes, the Anyangcheon Tubing Hill offers unique experience venues, such as catching pond smelts, catching trout with your bare hands, curling, and making wooden sleds. There are also rides for children, such as Mini Viking, Mini Train, and Disco Pang Pang, as well as other facilities including snack booths to fill your hungry stomach.

The hours of operation are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. The entrance fee is KRW 9,000 for children, adolescents, and adults alike, but free for children less than 36 months old.

    • Period: December 20, 2019-February 23, 2020
    • Venue: 285-22, Sindorim-dong, Guro-gu (seven-minute walk from Exit 2 of Guro Station)
    • Fee: KRW 9,000 (for adults and children alike) for sledding

    ■ Dorimcheon Children’s Ice Sledding Rink
Dorimcheon Children’s Ice Sledding Rink is normally constructed at the location between Sillimgyo Bridge and Seungnigyo Bridge in Sinwon-dong, Gwanak-gu, a 10-minute walk from Sillim Station (Line 2). However, its operation is currently paused, as the ice is not yet frozen. The site will be in operation once the weather gets colder.

Rental of sledding devices and the use of the sledding rink are all free, and the safety guards are on constant duty for the prevention of accidents and control of the ice quality.

As the facility relies on the natural formation of ice without using artificial means, the hours of operation differ depending on the weather and the state of the ice. It is more convenient to contact the Gwanak-gu Facilities Management Corporation to check whether the sledding rink is open before visiting.

    • Period: Currently not open (flexible hours of operation depending on the temperature)
    • Venue: Between Sillimgyo Bridge and Seungnigyo Bridge in Sinwon-dong, Gwanak-gu (a 10-minute walk from Sillim Station (Line 2))
