Buam-dong, where the past and the present coexist harmoniously

Buam-dong, slightly further north than Seoul’s grand Gyeongbokgung Palace is a charming neighbourhood nestled in the hills above the city. Formerly home to many artists and writers, the streets and alleyways are now home to cosmopolitan coffee shops and independent restaurants. Not as accessible as some other places in the city, it is nonetheless well served by buses, with the bus stop at Gwanghwamun, in front of the KT Building, a good place to catch a bus from. There are places to visit such as Sanmotoonge, fans of Korean Dramas may recognize, the coffee shop featured in Coffee Prince, and other places like Changuimun Gate, Mugyewon which is a former traditional entertainment venue, and the Seoul Museum.

Accessible from:
Bus No. 1711, 1020, 7212, 7018, or 7016 from Gwanghwamun Square (In front of the KT Building).
