Acting Mayor Seo Jung-hyup bestowed honorary citizenship to the Honorable Harry Harris, Ambassador of the United States to the Republic of Korea, at Seoul City Hall on Thu, Oct. 29, 2020.
Since taking office in July 2018, Ambassador Harris has been acknowledged for actively cooperating with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and expanding the scope of friendly exchanges between Seoul and its sister and friendship cities in the US.
The residence of Ambassador Harris (Habib House—the residence of the US Ambassador to the Republic of Korea) features an urban garden of about 100 pyeong (330 m2) in size that was built last year at the suggestion of his wife Bruni Bradley. Native Korean and American crops have been planted and students from nearby schools can come visit the garden as a place to experience urban gardening. In addition, the Habib House has opened its doors on the occasion of Jeongdong Culture Night for the last two years so that visitors can experience the history and culture of Jeong-dong.
Moreover, Seoul has continued cooperation and exchanges with five American cities (Honolulu, San Francisco, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Houston) through sister and friendship city agreements.
