WeGO is the first international public-private partnership (PPP) body for smart cities of which establishment was led by the SMG in order to promote the smart city-related cooperation and exchange among and sustainable development of cities and businesses across the world. WeGO grew from an organization with 50 member cities at the time of establishment in 2010 to the world’s largest international consultative body with 213 members, which comprise cities, institutions and businesses, including 158 member cities.
Approximately 150 attendants including representatives of around 50 cities, such as not only the chair city of Seoul, but also Moscow, Wellington, Chengdu, Bangkok and Ulaanbaatar as well international organizations, and ICT companies will participate in the General Assembly that will be held under the theme of “New Normal with Smart Sustainable Solutions for All.”
The general assembly was originally planned to take place last year in celebration of WeGO’s 10th anniversary. However, it had been cancelled and postponed a year due to the pandemic. It will be held this year in Seoul, the chair city, and this is the first WeGO General Assembly to be held in four years since the 4th WeGO General Assembly.
Organized in celebration of WeGo’s 10th anniversary, the general assembly will begin with an opening speech (video) by WeGO Chairperson and Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon. It will then be followed by a 10th anniversary commemorative event, WeGO Sustainable Cities Awards ceremony, the general assembly to discuss the plans for WeGO operation, and a range of programs including those for the promotion of cities and IT companies.
